Understanding E-coli 0157
On 17th November 1996, a church lunch was held in a public
house in Wishaw, Strathclyde. Part of the lunch was cooked
meat supplied by a local butcher. On November 26th, the first
victim, Harry Shaw aged 80, died. The last fatality was a
pensioner who died on June 2nd 1997. In all 20 people died.
The infection was found to be E-coli 0157.
Just imagine the consequences if it was your company that
had inadvertently supplied the meat. As an employer, you are
as vulnerable as your weakest link.

by the owner, manager or supervisor and records best practice
in daily operations.
